Angband on twitch (this Sunday)

Hello everyone. Some of you may remember me from the old days (but not the old old days, just the somewhat old days) I've gotten that itch to brush off the trusty lantern from the general store (bought pre 3.6) and play some more Angband.

I used to be a fairly decent player, and although my skills may have atrophied a little bit (or withered away completely) that's not going to stop me from a good ole romp in Morgoth's lair.

The channel is https://www.twitch.tv/fizzix_is_fun and I'm looking to stream this Sunday, let's say at 9:30 AM US central time (which is 14:30 GMT, and probably some ungodly hour where Nick's from)

I'm certainly open to race/class suggestions, as well as recommendations with regard to randarts or other difficulty settings. I'll probably use angband.live unless someone strongly recommends otherwise. I've noticed some threads about lag so that could be a bit concerning, but I'm sure everything will be fine...what could go wrong.

How well do ASCII characters show up on Twitch? Would tiles show better?

Also, playing on Live gives uneven performance at times. The chat is nice, of course, but seems like you wouldn't want to split whatever chatting your audience might want to do into Live vs Twitch anyway.

I'd suggest one of the new classes - blackguard, druid, necromancer - but I'd be interested to hear your opinions in any case.

I have twiddled with the font size to make sure that things are mostly visible. I think I'd like to avoid using tiles until the performance issues are sorted out.

Also, regarding chat, I won't have the angband live chat visible on the screen. The main reason for angband.live is that it's easier for me as I only have to capture one window rather than the three or four that I'd need to do to stream the game (unless angband has changed to allow multiple subwindows in one gamewindow?). I think I'll stick with angband.live for now, and if it's a big problem, I'll try to set up the windowed game later.

Looking forward to this. "Let's Play Angband" was the principal resource that upped my game to an entirely new level, making it possible for my very first win. It will be fun to watch fizzix strut his stuff again!

Made any firm decisions on the content? I'm particularly interested in which class(es) you'll be using.

I think I'll try a Druid. I have no idea what druid gameplay will be like, so it'll be a learning experience. Dunno what race, but I'm probably not up for a challenge race.

Still deciding on whether to turn forced descent off.

Birth_ai_learn, which used to be all sorts of broken is now by default on. Is that recommended?
