Very difficult LOTR quiz

I knew none of them. But maybe could have gotten 2 correct if I thought a lot. Most I had no chance at.

Hmm without much thinking I know the answers to 5,7,8,9 and have at least a 33% shot shot at 12.

Edit: most of the rest are movie related question which I dont care about.

I got one other question, and I happened to get 12 right on a 50/50 guess: Merry and Pippin are not well differentiated characters. But that quote is definitely not Sam.

3rd option was Fredegar Boffin. I would gave guessed either Merry or Pippin, but couldnt completely exclude Fredegar as he was part of the conspiracy.

Edit: I had a nagging doubt about the name...and yes, checking the wiki his name is Bolger not Boffin.

Actually, I lied, I knew one of them, the hobbit who stole the spoons. Since just last name would be ok, I would have gotten that one correct.

I got 9 - didn't know any of the movie questions.

EDIT: BTW, I don't agree that Merry and Pippin are not well differentiated. Merry is serious, practical and a deep-thinker, whereas Pippin just likes a good time (although he develops considerably over the course of the book). One of my many irritations with the movie was how Merry was portrayed as a buffoon.

I agree, although I thought it was Pippin that was portrayed as a buffoon in the movies, not Merry.

For example, at the Council of Elrond Pippin said, "Besides, you need someone of intelligence on this, mission, quest, thing."

"Well, that rules you out Pip," said Merry.

I think they both were, although as you say, Pippin more so. And I guess I feel that it was almost fair for Pippin, but not at all for Merry.
