Blessed by the Gods?
Ok, noob question:
Does the phrase "It is blessed by the gods." have any significance or is merely flavor? While I've been playing roguelike off and on the last 15 years, starting with Moria, I've recently rededicated myself to finally beating the damn thing. I'm now the farthest I've ever been, which is a mere 1550' ![]() But since I've just started seeing artifacts and egos, I really have no idea wtf they do. ![]() |

Can be wielded by priests without penalty. So if it's a blunt weapon anyway, it makes no difference; if it's sharp and you're playing a priest, it becomes a potentially useful weapon.

Note that Blessed and *Slay Evil* weapons also have a special ability. That means 1 in 5 of them give ESP. (Holy Avenger weapons, which are also 'blessed by the gods', give only See Invisible and a random sustain, but usually are significantly better as melee weapons.)
