New icons?

Is it just me or are there new icons on the forum since this morning? It just feels weird when you're used to the old layout...

Yes!

I have upgraded vBulletin to latest maintenance 3.X release yesterday. It brings better compatibility with modern PHP releases. And some new icons.

I have also disabled friendship requests for newly registered users, as it was started to being exploited in spamulent fashion.

I'm glad you got upgraded, but holy carp these icons suck. They all look absurdly similar, pixelated to hell and back and they don't even blend properly with the background (no alpha channel?).

Am I the only one seeing this?

(I'll be happy to post screenshots if this isn't obvious to everyone else. My example would be the emoticons at the bottom of the "create a post" page that I'm posting this very message from.)

I am seeing it too - with the caveat that I started seeing general visible badness on vBulletin when I got a better resolution screen. Maybe theyr'e just assuming everyone is looking at their software on a low-res netbook, or their phone.

I think they just didn't use alpha-based fading at the borders, and instead assumed that you have a light-colored page background.

The new emoticons have a similar issue; I expect it holds for all of the standard graphics in the new BB software.

That's true, but I could deal with that. My main issue is that they're just so incredibly similar, visually both in color and shape. I have a real hard time telling "has new posts" apart from "has posts" -- the only difference is a very small area of (low-contrast) red vs. blue. There's no difference in shape, AFAICT. I'm not colour-blind, but that extra shape change was a great visual cue. #feelsbadman
