Tex Murphy

I don't know if any of you played the Tex Murphy adventure games, but I read a usenet post that I & 2 are available for free download until the 24th. I don't know if that means 12:01 AM or 11:59PM nor the timezone.

The link is http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/tex_murphy_1_2

I remember enjoying Under a Killing Moon, but all I know about the download is what I wrote above.

Never heard of these before, but upon viewing the link something occurred to me. Although I need graphics to play most rogue-likes, I never cared for graphics in text adventures.

They date from the era of "interactive fiction", when computers could display FMV without too much trouble, but didn't yet have the power to do serious graphics. So you got clunky VGA graphics with chunks of FMV thrown in. Most did these at cutscenes, but some were a little more inventive. I've never played these (thanks Eddie for the heads-up), but the series always had a good reputation among the adventure crowd.

I downloaded and started one, and the graphics resolution was 320xsomething. No mouse. That's a different era of computing for sure.
