What ids a shield of wrath?

I've seen the "you notice you are enraging nearby enemies" message before. Yet no amount of watching enemies break pack ai, turn around from singing Elbereth or any other trick I try works.

Edit: I'm not sure I like them as there a swap-in, swap-out item. Swap it in everything enters the corridor, swap back to fighting shield. At least the horn costs voice.

I haven't found any way to ID these, outside of an _understanding or Loremaster. I think this is just a bug / accidental omission.

No, they ID eventually; probably by alerting a set amount of enemies wielding it (?). It's a bit like treacherous paths in that way in that any ID-savvy player will realize it's a suboptimal item long before the game acknowledges it. Still, hey, 100 xp.

I'm pretty sure there is a way to identify every flag by use in Sil, but some (including Wrath) are pretty slow and uninteresting. It might just be a 1 in 1,000 chance per turn or something. Better would be a 1 in 50 chance per turn when a non-troll is Aggressive. Some would recommend 100% chance in such a situation, but we do like to reward players who are clever and attentive, rather than telegraphing it to everyone at the first opportunity (though the latter would be a reasonable thing to have as a game option, for experienced players). Sounds like a few things are a considerably too slow to ID though. Generally this is lack of time to perfect everything rather than a deliberate decision.

okay, this is something that's always mystified me. Do amulets of adornment just take a long time?

Yes, only attributes that actually have an affect can be identified by use, and amulets of adornment have none (they are just there for the ID subgame), or if you want your character to look particularly spiffy.

Does regeneration ID over time, when swapping hunger states or only when actually hurt?

I'm almost certain I've seen 2 different messages for regen: "You notice you are regenerating faster" & "you notice you are getting hungry faster". Wearing un-id sustenance and hunger stops you iding by use. Entrapment staffs are the other no id by use. I always wonder whether 100xp is worth the id charge.

You can "ID" adornment and things like hunger rings by making them. Same goes for all the curses (easy to make), although if you can make cursed items you probably want the forge uses for other things. If you only take jewellery for horn and lamp making this is a viable option for the bad jewellery at least, however.
