Registration Closed?

Hey,

Just wondering why is registration closed for the forums?
I tried to refer somebody to come here as it seemed like they belonged here, but they are unable to register a new account. It says it's been closed by the Admin.

The amount of spam accounts was unbearable.

Still looking for someone to take over the site, migrate it to recent supported vB version and keep it properly guarded against spam.

So in the meantime, is there any way for a legitimate person to confirm they aren't a bot and get an account?

I have reopened registrations, and I have set that newly registered users will have their first five posts always moderated, until they get promoted.

Let's see how that flies. (and what that breaks unexpectedly)

Don't bother. Mr Sager has a long history of making outrageous claims (eg, he was one of the first to break the news of COVID, he is the world #1 in every computer game he has ever played, he has been personally targeted by a cabal of social media platforms and censored because he is a Christian, just about anything he says about Carnegie Mellon ...).

It is my opinion that he has a mental health problem. I wish him the best, but this is not the forum for him to get that sort of help.

I have reason to believe that Mr Sager was in a massive tailspin in 2012 when he attacked police and others while on a PCP binge.

I've nothing whatsoever against someone with a mental health issue. I'm more than happy to give him my time, but when he starts posting somewhere it devolves. Quickly.

I checked here replying to someone posting on reddit about having newbie questions and wanting to register here too. Will update there.

There's work in progress to get this fixed, but it's not all sorted out yet.
