Explain this photograph?

I can't make sense how this photo was taken. The bottom looks like it was taken at ground level and the top looks like it was taken from 300' above the ground. How in the world was this photo taken?

Unrelated: Am I just stupid or is there a glaring piece of explanation missing from this video? Am I the only one or do other people find that when they are reading an article (often news item) about something bizarre or unusual the level of explanation in the article is wholly lacking? Or am I the only one who (frustratingly) experiences this on a regular basis? Here is a great example: https://vimeo.com/281242068. I would love other's insights on this. Watch the whole video and tell me it's not at least somewhat puzzling the lack of explanation to it? /sigh.

Yeah. And bottom half taken with a fisheye (wide angle) lens.

I'd guess the method was to have the drone continuously take video as it flew both up (into the sky) and forwards (along the road). Then the image is composited together such that pixel rows towards the bottom of the image are from the beginning of the flight, and the top of the image is from the end. The fisheye lens, as Pete notes, gives the illusion that the viewing angle of the camera changes.

If you look at the white lines at the sides of the road, you can see some discontinuities where the image was stitched together.

All screenshots taken by a Palantír look this way.

Thanks Derakon! Great explanation. Dare I say satisfactory, even; for my pea-sized nodule of comprehensibility.

HallucinationMushroom: hahaha
