Blessing adds a small amount to your armor class and a small amount to your to hit value for a short period of time. Probably not worth keeping.

Holy chant and Holy Prayer are later scrolls that do the exact same thing for a longer period of time. All 3 are also available as prayers for priest/paladin. I rarely use them in either form (prayer or scroll) except very early in the game such as when I meet Grip or Fang before I'm otherwise ready for them.

Up against M, i like to go fully buffed. With a big-dice weapon, +30 to_hit makes a difference of up to 10% actual damage per turn, by improving both accuracy and criticals.

Bless is not worth it if you have a full inventory. Detect evil only detects evil. Detection does all monsters +detect invisible +detect treasure. I use bless in the final fight but I don't carry it, I pre-buff in town

I'd ditch polymorph. It's not reliable--monsters can resist it and you don't know what you'll get. I've never really used slow or hold monster that much, but slow doesn't seem to last very long. I haven't tested it enough to tell if it's useful in the current version.

Slow, Confuse, and Stun have all become VERY useful in the Feature Branch (well, now the Master Branch, as they are now one and the same). Possibly too useful to the point of being overpowered. One can reliably slow and stun even Morgoth, though he cannot be confused. Many of the uniques are susceptible to all three. The triple combination is a game-changer.

I just tried to polymorph a hydra, didn't work. Not sure what the chances are.

My rogue held a monster, but the first shot it moved again.

What does stun do? When it says something is stunned I don't seem to notice an effect.

Hold only works until monster is attacked via weapon, missile or spell, otherwise until it wears off. It's helpful for running away or getting some space before engaging with missiles and spells, but not so great for melee.

I believe monster has a reduced chance to hit @ and has increased failure rate on spells.
