Question Stat Swap potions for Paladins

Hello all,

I generally play a mage or a warrior and with both I find that stat swap potions really pay off. However, this is my first Paladin and it seems that there aren't that many throwaway stat for paladins.
Wisdom - needed for spellcasing
Constitution - needed for HP
Dex + STR - needed for melee

The only throwaway with a paladin seems to be Int.

Is it still worth it to use stat swaps with a paladin? Would appreciate advice as I just found a potion of contemplation and I'm contemplating drinking it...

Thanks!

Recommend stashing it at home til your melee stats are well above 18. Then you can afford to lose a point.

Sounds good, but the problem is that then I'll be stashing potions for 4 different stats and that will take up a lot of inventory slots. Are there any specific potions you would prioritize?

Whatever is lowest?

Stash them all, and then ask us what you're saving at home that we think you should toss.

In case you missed it, Eddie's point is there's very little you'll likely want to keep that you find while stat swap potions are still useful. Stat gain contributes way more to character power than that Elvenkind {Nether} you might use sometime

am i missing the yet-another trick that makes stat swap useful?

is it because you *could* gain more than 18/+10 points but only always lose 1/-10 points?

Yes. It's easy to gain stats after 18, but hard before. It's also easier to affect stats with equipment the closer you get to max. So trading high for low is a net win.

Wow, I would *never* toss a an Elvenkind rNether shield for a swap stat potion! Yowsers. If I want rNether at the very end, it will be in the shield slot since I have yet to find an endgame weapon that has rNether, and my amulet is either Trickery or Weaponmastery, my armor probably has pConf or rChaos.

Personally, as Dwarf Paladin the only swapstat potions I quaff are STR and DEX (in general).

I was thinking about armor. You'll be wearing something else by the endgame--either artifact or dwarven dragonscale armor (or PDSM). So why keep something you will never use? Better keep a consumable that you really foresee using.

The poll presents a false dichotomy. It is not an all-or-nothing choice, but a nuanced decision based on the particular situation. I believe the correct answer is, "sometimes".
