My randart white DSM allows me to breathe... fire!

Title says it all...
Since r1761, randart activations are totally random, which could lead to such sillyness. I don't know why it was changed, but I would prefer the old system, when randarts kept the activation from their base item (if they had one). What do you think?

Well, this would only apply to DSMs, as they are the only item with an activation which can currently become an artifact.

If people want randart DSMs to have non-random activations I'm fine with that. Speak up, people...

Is DSM activation calculated as power? IYKWIMAITYD ... =P

I see no reason not to have DSM randarts always have their normal DSM activation.

IDKWTFTAISTM but yes, it is. All activations have a power rating which contributes to the overall power rating of the object.

Reminds me of some Diablo II items, one in particular my sorc found. "Freezing Amulet of Thawing" (+1 cold skills, half freeze duration).

Or in Angband... "The Rapier 'Moron'" +5 Wisdom... (and more)

I think that randart DSMs should keep their original activations, but YSLTMBIHPVIY (you shouldn't listen to me because I haven't played Vanilla in years).

Going Huffman to save precious disk space on oook?

If you're are ok with simultaneously fire and cold branded weapons (and even standard set includes such items), I don't see what's wrong with fire-breathing white DSM.

Clearly, somebody took a can of White paint and applied it to a Red DSM to confuse the monsters.
