Actually it's a jackdaw, but they didn't get into Angband.
![]() It's in my bedroom for the usual reasons - fell (or was pushed) out of the nest, too young to fly back. After a day you figure it's going to end up as catfood (or road pizza) if it's not taken care of. It's quite tame, and very stupid (tendency to stand in the middle of the road).

Crebain is the plural dagnabbit. The singular is Creban or possibly Craban.
That's assuming that Legolas is using a Sindarin term which I think is plausable.

Aragorn: "Regiments of black crows are flying all over the land between the Mountains and the Greyflood, and they have passed over Hollin. They are not natives here; they are crebain out of Fangorn and Dunland."

For some reason I thought it was Legolas.
He's still using it as a plural and, having been raised in Rivendell, is allmost certainly fluent in Sindarin. It also looks like a Sindarin plural of the same form as Edain for Adan. If it's in another language we have no idea what the singular is except that it's probably different.

Yeah, definitely plural. I forgot to say that I was agreeing with you - oops!
I think that's the only mention of them in the trilogy. Kind of a waste, really; the crebain have a lot of narrative potential! |

And you trust an "encyclopedia" anyone can edit? Really?
http://www.glyphweb.com/arda/c/crebain.html No mention of singular here.
