Roguelike Developer Deathmatch!*
This thread over on Temple of the Roguelike gave me an idea. It's not uncommon for those involved in roguelike development to be short of hands and overworked**. So why not have a tournament where the competitors bet some part of their development time?
Anybody currently, or previously, working on a roguelike (not just programming, graphics, sound, etc. as well) would be able to enter. Entrants would give a brief description of their skills, information on the roguelike that they want assistance with, and state how much time they would be willing to bet (e.g. what can be managed over two weeks). Entrants would be able to express preferences for who they would like to compete against (but final decision will go to random numbers when it can't be agreed otherwise). I think that winners could be decided by popular vote on the basis of which project is the most promising / interesting. Votes on one pair per week (say). So what do you think? Sound interesting? * No actual death involved. ** Obviously not everyone is keen on having other people touch their precious, precious, code, this wouldn't be for them.

You're talking to someone who won after only a few months of playing. I've played for at least three years now and never got past ~dl60 in a real game.

So you're saying since Unangband reduced the end game to level 60 it's not a real game... (Or Quickband, or Tinyband).
