QUERTZ keyboard bug
Hi
I just got a bug report from a user. He says: > shift<direction> always works as a walk command. I'm using a QWERTZ keyboard. He was playing Quickband - perhaps the same problem arises in NPP or even Vanilla. Can anyone suggest a solution? A.

First thing, this can happen to me if I press the shift button for too long, which changes the settings somehow, but without changing my settings, this doesn't happen. I use a QUERTY for angband, because I want to have movement I'm used to. Also, I can't test on quickband right now.

Just to check: He has set macros|keymaps for shift<direction>?
For me it only works after I've set the keymaps (nightly), but after that I don't have any problems. It only works with the numpad though. |

I didn't change any macros|keymaps.
As soon as I deactivated Num Lock on my keyboard, shift<direction> worked as expected. Thanks anyway for taking care of this ![]() Last edited by caruso; May 25, 2011 at 09:56. |

Having gotten annoyed at the numpad options (numlock on means it doesn't work for movement, numlock off means it doesnt work for item selections) I wound up with some AutoHotKey macros converting keystrokes to more useful input.

With numlock on, shouldn't the keypad always just send numbers, just like the number row at the top of the main island? That should work for movement...
I'm guessing that by "doesn't work for item selections" you mean you can't use it with inscription tags, e.g. "@m0", "@z3", etc. (Frankly I always found the concept of the numlock key to be stupid. The numeric keypad should be used for numbers!) |

Ok, more precisely, numlock on gives the problems described in the preceeding posts of the thread, ie no <shift> or <ctrl> options
Also, I get, by default, some wacky results assigning keymaps to the surrounding keys. Remapping everything away from the ghetto end of the keyboard just seems to make everything work more nicely... |
