Which blade should I wield?

In the store is a Katana of Westernesse (3d4)(+10,+10)(+2) str,dex,con.
Am wielding Longsword of Extra Attacks(2d5) (+10,+10)(+2)

I can buy the Katana if I sell the longsword, should I make the switch or am I better off keeping the longsword

Edit: forgot to mention the Katana is Westernesse.

I would probably take the katana (though - what's the excellent katana in your home? Maybe something just as good?). Here's why:

1. With the katana, you should have 2 attack/round and since the katana has a slightly better damage advantage and the added +2 str/dex. Extra con doesn't hurt for hp as well.
2. Any damage loss from switching from 3 attacks to 2 attacks is minimized because you have three very effective slays to work with.
3. Wielding westernesse gives you both FA and SI - so you can afford to replace both of those rings - perhaps that nice ring of flames in your home...

Before spending the money though - I would find out precisely what the katana you already have does.

EDIT: This becomes a much tougher decision if you have two points more in dex or one point more in str - as that puts your long sword up to 4 blows/turn - while the katana is stuck at 2. At that point, I would probably still take the katana and hope for a good ring of damage or something similar to keep the damage up - becuase replacing those two rings is pretty useful.

Thanks for your comment, I think I'll go for the Wseternesse in the store.

I don't have any form of id , and the only one available is a ?*id* in the black market, there is not even a _Perception in the mage store. And I don't want to scum the town for cash.

So I wont take a chance of losing it. I'll Id the one at home later. I'm betting the one at home won't be better. I'll keep you informed.

Edit: ID'd the katana at home which was only a Slay Demon (+5, +9)

One thing you should do with any excellent weapon you need to judge is to remove your stealth items, check your stealth, wield and check whether your stealth or any stats change. That sometimes restricts the number of possible egos [e.g. wisdom bonus] or tells you outright [e.g. stealth bonus].
