The last messages are, in fact, the last messages, so it would be a mess to change that.

ISTR something on the bug tracking list at rephial about mentioning the form of death. An extra "killed by whomever" message should be easy to do. I suppose the game could store the recent messages twice, once with omniscience and once with only known info, but that seems like more trouble than it is worth.

The player notes should cover it, and I share your recollection that it was actually mentioned individually - I suspect in the changelist that takkaria put out a weekish ago.

Yes, but for characters that are still alive too.

So that you can immortalise moments like:

"You drop the Long Sword (4d5).
You fall through a trap door..."

I like this idea, including recent messages for character dumps, even when the character isn't (yet) dead.
