Open Wounds vs. Regen

I've started a Half-troll Warrior w/ Randarts on 4.0.5. Dump here:

Note that he's a troll who's wearing 3 sources of regeneration (Defender Scimitar, helm of Regen, and randart boots). This isn't by design- just the best I've found so far.

I've not found any great rings yet, and just found a ring of open wounds. Inspecting it says it's got a 90% chance to activate- not bad.

I'm curious how Regen stacks, and how the Open Wounds malus to regen interacts with this. I let a clay gollum beat on me and it seemed like I was still able to regenerate pretty quickly.

Regeneration doesn't stack and open wounds cancels out regeneration (but doesn't make regen rate lower than normal).
