What does "The <item> disappears" mean?
Sometimes I see a lot of "The ... disappears" message. I can't see any visible changes in the map, and nothing nearby is lost. So what does this mean?

No room on the floor for monster drops probably.

I didn't kill anything at that time.
I'm playing 3.5.1 release. I don't see any options related to this. However, it seems to only happen if I have used Enlightenment on that level. It didn't happen many times, so I can't be sure. |

Could be a thief, for instance, picking stuff up out of sight? Or a Xorn, say, crushing stuff?

Possibly referring to the message you see when a nearby monster teleports?

re: items disappearing
This messages also shows up, if an invisible monster picks something up.
