The source code that you have is what is used to construct the game. It represents the logic of the game in a way that humans can understand and modify, but that computers cannot run directly. In order to produce a game that you can actually interact with, the source code must be "compiled", which means using specialized software to convert it into a format that computers can run. Unfortunately compiling is fairly complicated. If you don't have an interest in computer programming, I strongly advise you to just download one of the PosChengband forks like FrogComposband that has already been compiled.

All right; I won't try any compiling.
As to FrogComposband, how is it different from PosChengband? I am attracted to it by the rather goofy, over-the-top flavour that the funny messages thread seems to show it to have. Is that still there in FrogComposband? |

FrogComposband has more races, more classes, more personalities, more monsters, more dungeons, more quests, more artifacts, more item types, more options and more goofy stuff
![]() But fewer bugs. At least I hope so.

I think the only reason to play Poschengband is if you are looking for something very specific that a particular version of Poschengband has/hasn't (such as every room is a special room: that option was taken out of late Poschengband and not put back in Frog) |

I agree with the others suggesting FCPB. However if anyone is specifically after poschengband this link appears to still work for me:

I would very much appreciate a compiled verion of Poschengband. It does not matter what version it is, as long as it is good, I shall play it!
Try this: https://1drv.ms/f/s!Asycth9nrmPTrmjgKI957P_SYZiv It probably depends on the visual c++ 2010 redistributable so if you get any errors about missing .dlls, install that. You're losing the syllable war. You need to change your variant name to Bugfrogcomposband or something.

I have started on FrogComposband, and am loving it already. Thank you, wobbly, for the link for PosChengband, though.
