Priests in TOME theme
I'm playing a lot less, but did a Stonewright, Priest of Aule in Theme.
Just an FYI for anyone who plays a priest in Theme, don't put a single point into prayer. You get more god quests and can get to 50 only via god-relic quests. |

Do some town quests, then try Moria. You can also level up in the mountains near Bree, with young dragons. Even the first Gondolin town quest only has mature dragons. Angband is really tough, though. Hold of on that for a good long while.

The game actually won't let you even try the Angband until clvl 30 iirc

Moria has straightforward enemies, but it has a lot of them, and they spawn in aggressively too. If you're a mana-constrained class it can be hard to fight off the hordes you encounter there. Plus you're unlikely to get strong enough to deal with the dungeon boss, so inevitably you'll leave after grinding for awhile anyway.
Mirkwood Forest is the next main-line dungeon (with Princess/Fumblefingers quests) after the Barrow-Downs, so it's usually where I recommend going after you're done with the Bree area. Just be careful to not step on any water tiles while traveling overland; hydras can spawn in shallow water and they're tough to deal with. |

Pre-emptively carry Teleportation sources in case you are ambushed. If you are ambushed, you must go to edge of screen first before you can do global map mode travel again

I am not sure about Theme, but in "vanilla" ToME the sandworm lair is an interesting area for the early-mid game. Make sure you have the means to deal with traps.

Theme is a variant of Tome2, which is a massively different game from Tome4. Estie was referring to Tome2, which does indeed have a dungeon called Sandworm Lair.
