Jewel Recharge Problem

I have the evenstar jewel, which I had stored in my house while it was "charging". After picking it back up again, it is stuck in the charging state and does not reset. Do I have to actually equip it, or is being in inventory enough?

I tried to figure out macros to see if I could cast a recharge spell on it, but I haven't been able to get that to work either (macro noob).

Any ideas, or is "k" my only solution :-(

You have to wear it. Some variants allow (slower) recharge even in your pack, but not vanilla.

If with "k" you are talking about destroy, that doesn't work on artifacts
