Ball spells
Ball / Cloud / Storm spellls... How does damage work? 100% of specified damage in the spellbook to the center square, and decreased amounts around it? It seems as if the monsters around the center are not damaged as much... I never really figured it out...

That's about right. The damage specified is for the targeted space of the ball. Each space of radius outwards from there inflicts less damage.
