Stange message

Hello,

I just had a strange message/option with me HE Ranger. It said something like I felt the power surge through me, and then asked me which monster type to genocide. I aborted the procedure (I wasn't sure what it came from), but I'm still curious as to this feature. Is it some randomly occuring feature?

I'm quite sure I don't have genocide in my spellbook.

There's a genocide scroll and it kills all things of a certain monster type on the level.

I don't think it will kill uniques, but I could be wrong. I haven't had a genocide scroll in like a year. lol Mostly because I've been trying weird race/class/tactic combos that result in early death or because I just love to play with the Borg and I end up giving him parameters that get him killed. Hehe.

It sounds like you activated something to perform the Genocide spell. It could have been a scroll (but surely you would have realised if it had come from reading a scroll), or an artifact activation, or maybe a staff (I think there is a genocide staff in V but not sure).

The name's been changed, it's banishment in the newer versions.
