Oh, that explains why I never really saw splendid. After I could afford limitless ID scrolls, I just stopped id'ing by wield. Too cumbersome to equip, go whack something, etc, especially when I didn't want to risk unequipping something with an important resist.

It is still useful to know the exact def if you want to get the most out of quality squelch. Armor of resistance is excellent, robes of permanence are excellent with a high resist, and armor of elvenkind is splendid.
