YA"which weapon to use"P
Found several good weapons, but none that really outshines the rest, so it's a tough desicion what to weild.
The decision is between these two: a) a sabre of Extra Attacks (1d7) (+10,+4) (+2) {@w0 ranger L20} It increases your attack speed by 2. (get three attacks) r) a long dagger of Westernesse (1d5) (+8,+8) (+1 to infravision) {Golfimbul L12} It increases your strength, dexterity, and constitution by 1. It increases your infravision by 1. It slays orcs, trolls, and giants. It grants you immunity to paralysis. (get two attacks) I'm sure the sabre would do more damage in most cases, but the long dagger's stat pluses are nice, plus probably doing more damage to orcs, trolls and giants. (I have another source of FA). I'm already keeping a: s) a rapier (Blessed) (1d6) (+4,+6) (+1) {Telepathy floor L20} It increases your wisdom by 1. It is blessed by the gods. It might have hidden powers. as a swap weapon (for the telepathy), and I'd rather not keep two swap weapons. If only I got two attacks with it, I'd probably use it as my main weapon, but it only gives me one attack cause of my half-troll's low dexterity. Here's the dump: http://angband.oook.cz/ladder-show.php?id=7516 Not sure why I'm keeping those broadswords, but I'm not pressed for space in my home yet so there's no reason not to I guess.

I heard that more attacks are better so I would say the very first one beats the rest cause it does quite a bit of damage and you attack multiple times but thats just me and I probably would be considered a noob -so thats my opinion.

Go with the sabre. Getting only 2 or 3 attacks with a Half-Troll Paladin is a pretty weak character. You need to make it up any way you can. 11 base STR is a lousy roll for a melee class.

I guess I sound kinda stupid then, when I admit that I used point-based generation. I have this bad habit of pointing points in the same stats for all class/race combos, differing only in spell stat. Also, 3 Intelligence looked pretty bad to me even though it's the least important stat (besides CHA, I never put points in CHA). Maybe I should've chosen a half-troll priest. Then again, he is doing pretty good, and I'm almost up to stat again (just found a !CON) so the starting STR won't matter for much longer.
Just now bought a ring of rst-poison from the black market, so I have it covered when I need it.

do you pick your fights or fight everything?
If you are disciplined, go with a weapon that gives you max dam against o's, g's, P's and ''only fight o's, g's P's''. But if you are like me, work out max dam / round average and go with that... I would pick the sabre +2 attacks intuitively, so probably the dagger! |

I pick my fights, but I like to kill more than just o's g's and P's. I've found a couple more artifacts including the helm Holhenneth which has telepathy, but the only weapon artifacts I've found are two *thanc daggers and the battleaxe Lotharang. Lotharang looked pretty sucky so I didn't even bother to pick it up. But now I'm chosing between Dethanc 2d4 +9 +9 with 4 attacks and a great axe of extra attacks 4d4 +9 +8 (3 attacks). I'm leaning towards Dethanc because of the brand.
