Talk about a good drop ... [NPP]

I decided to take on Gothmog, despite having no Fire immunity or even double resistance. I did have a stack of Frost-branded mithril shot, and a heck of a set of weapons for an NPP Brigand in this fight:

a) The Battle Axe of Balli Stonehand (3d8) (+8,+11) [+5] (+3)
It increases your strength and constitution by 3. It
increases your stealth by 3. It slays orcs and trolls, and
it is especially deadly against demons.
b) a Sling of Buckland (x2) (+14,+18) (+1)
It increases your dexterity by 1. It increases your shooting
speed and shooting power by 1. It cannot be harmed by acid
or fire.

Since the cold-brand does 4x damage vs Gothmog, I gave it a shot. At the end he summoned Lungorthin and a whole bunch of nasties, so I was forced to retreat around a corner in the destroyed area left over from killing Polyphemus. I finished with around 350HP. Unfortunately, there was a Wyrm pit about 30 squares away, and a huge bunch of Ethereal Wyrms were coming through the walls. So I was forced to *Destroy* the area before they arrived. There was an astonishing number of squares left with stuff in them. After IDing everything and picking up the artifacts:

o) The Metal Brigandine Armour of the Rohirrim [19,+15] (+2)
It increases your strength and dexterity by 2. It cannot be
harmed by the elements. It might have hidden powers.
It was dropped by Gothmog, the High Captain of Balrogs on
dungeon level 99.
p) The Mithril Chain Mail 'Belegennon' (-1) [28,+20] (+4) {no}
It increases your stealth by 4. It cannot be harmed by the
elements. It might have hidden powers.
It was dropped by Gothmog, the High Captain of Balrogs on
dungeon level 99.
q) The Iron Helm 'Holhenneth' [5,+10] (+2)
It increases your intelligence and wisdom by 2. It increases
your searching by 2. It cannot be harmed by the elements.
It might have hidden powers.
It was dropped by Gothmog, the High Captain of Balrogs on
dungeon level 99.
r) The Set of Leather Gloves 'Cambeleg' (+8,+8) [1,+15] (+2)
It increases your strength and constitution by 2. It cannot
be harmed by the elements. It might have hidden powers.
It was dropped by Gothmog, the High Captain of Balrogs on
dungeon level 99.
t) The Executioner's Sword 'Crisdurian' (4d5) (+18,+19)
It cannot be harmed by the elements. It gives you 5 attacks
per turn. It might have hidden powers.
It was dropped by Gothmog, the High Captain of Balrogs on
dungeon level 99.
u) The Spear 'Aeglos' (3d6) (+15,+25) [+5] (+4)
It increases your wisdom and dexterity by 4. It cannot be
harmed by the elements. It gives you 5 attacks per turn. It
might have hidden powers.

Unfortunately, the only ammo drop was lightning-brand arrows and animal-brand shots, but you can't have everything...

I recently had the Jewel of Judgement, The Charmed pendant, Cloak of C('i) adan, Cesti of Genji, and the rapier Quickthorn all drop at once I think from Bleys, Master of Manipulation.
I was happy with that, I decided to use the Jewel, Pendant and cloak...not often you get three upgrades from one drop at lvl47.

Animal-brand shots could be useful against Huan, Tarrasque, Carcharoth and suchlike.
