[FA (and O)]Picking Druid specialties
I'm going to play a Druid in FAAngband, and I'm have trouble picking which specialties to take.
The first tier candidates: Power Strike - It's good in the beginning, but will it become useless later on? Harmony - Better staying power is good Channeling - More power on first strike Clarity - +2 to spellcasting stat and more mana is always good. Meditation - And so is faster mana regeneration Regeneration - and ditto for hp Second tier choices: Beguile - I haven't been sold on slow, sleep, confuse, .... even if they are better in FA & O Enhance - I also consider attack the best defense Fast Casting - Is it useful? Heighten Magic - I prefer Channeling Third tier: Armor Proficiency - Seems too limited Well, what do you advice? I'm considering Harmony + Channeling + Clarity or Meditation. |

Clarity and Power Strike are really good for getting an immediate return. My more successful druids have taken Clarity, so I guess that would be my recommendation. Race might come into your choice too - Ent, Druadan and Green Elf, for example are all very different to start.

As any spellcaster I take Heighten Magic over Channeling. Heighten Magic can raise you 20 levels whilst Channeling maxes at 14. Plus by the time I've cast all my buffing spells, The Channeling bonus is severely depleted whilst the Heighten Magic one is coming into its own.
The entish druid I am running has taken Power Strike, this will be followed by Heighten Magic and I will decide on a third if and when I get that far. |
