Comp 173

Hi,

I've tentatively booked the comp 173 as a Zangband 2.7.5 competition -- http://angband.oook.cz/competition.php?showcompo=173

I managed to get it to build pretty easily on OSX, although I had to mangle h-type.h to stop the rng from hanging (thanks to hjklyubn for the hint.)

If people with various platforms (windows, OSX, etc.) can try downloading the game in the way they normally play it, it would be good to know in advance if it's totally busted for most players or not. 2005 is a really long time ago!

Feedback on the savefile also welcome.

Hi, I have dificulties to download the win or dos versions. Browser can not find the page.

I found everything needed on sourceforge. I am sorry for spreading unnecesary panic...

Yes, I did find version "zangband-275-pre1-win" and I have been able to run it.
Competition save file is ok.

Not a lot of recent development on oangband or sangband either, and we still play those all the time. zangband is pretty great!

So.. anyone in the know on lua scripting in ZAngband and that knows why the Katana of Groo is not functioning well?

It keeps giving the following message:

error: attempt to perform arithmetic on global `damage' (a nil value) <string " if player.rp.pclass == CLASS_WARRIOR then ...": line 1>
Script for object: Katana of Groo (5d4) (+0,+0%) (+2) failed.

and the lua script in a_info.txt is:

L:HIT: if player.rp.pclass == CLASS_WARRIOR then
L:HIT: damage = damage * 2
L:HIT: end
L:SPOIL: return "Double damage (warrior)"

Which seems straightforward enough, but apparently fails. Could it be that damage is never set unless when calculating a hit? And that this script is checked every turn (which makes no sense as it's in a HIT: clause)?

Reading other artifacts, the Scythe of Energy is calculating on a value called 'dam', would anyone mind if I edited the lua to see if that works?
