Rend Soul resistance

I don't get why so many monsters seem to resist this.

I'm playing a Gnome Mage, Clvl31. Having found Kelek's on a Master Yeek at 1800' or so* (!!!), the spell Rend Soul quickly became the most powerful damage spell I had access to. From the description, I gather it's 'nether' damage. But everything I use it on 'Resists somewhat'.

What's going on? 11d31 should be beating the hell out of my other spells, but most of the time the damage seems very low.

Oh well. At least I have Banishment... Vaults have become almost *too* easy with that!

*I also found Tenser's at 800'! But Tenser's is pretty lame for a Mage.

IIRC evil things partially resist nether. It's not that great a spell, but handy against non-evil stuff (animals, angels, etc).

It is a terrible spell name. Evil humanoids have souls too.

In any case, the "@" is by far the most evil char in most games. Why doesn't it resist nether?

Half damage versus evil IIRC.
