Is it possible to correct this behavior, e.g. not resave the class pref file with the character name? I do not know if this is a weird clash with Wine, but it is an annoyance.

Without any knowledge of the internals, my answer is: save the pickpref that is loaded, e.g. if it loads the class pickpref save that, if the race pickpref save that, etc. But this is but a minor annoyance, I can work around it.

note(s):
- I am assuming that Frog only loads the first pickpref file it finds in the search order, contrary to say macro files, as there is no "obvious" way to merge different pickpref files.

Wondering if the reward for taking care of 10 great worms of many colors could be a little better . . .

Also, would someone please remind me how to make a character dump in frogcomposband?

It's a randart, so you never know exactly how good it will be; sometimes you get a great one, sometimes it's a dud. Also, makes a difference whether you've found something like Thorin for it to compete against (If you're thinking of a class-specific reward rather than the default randart dragon shield - some of those are probably even more hit-and-miss, but there's only so much dragon-themed equipment.)

Mutter... just a whine.
Playing a Ninja for the first time in a year or more. Good Ninjatos are as rare as they come. Imagine my joy at seeing 2x Ninjato (special) and an Elf Cloak (excellent) after completing the Orc Lair. Three bosses and their escorts all in the same room came close to ruining my day.
Imagine my despair when the cloak had a fire_aura, and both blades had Lu... and me without a darkness source.
The blade's power level is way above mine for reforging.

More killing I guess lol

Thus far Igor's feel a little too slow to get off the ground for how bad their starting stats are, It may be bad luck on my part but personally it feels like the early combination of almost all of the early parts having no effects, combined with how often you fail to get any parts pre 30 is making the race feel really bland and uninteresting, Maybe add some more effects to some of the earlier parts, even if they're mostly bad, or mixed things, like light sensitive eyes granting extra infravision or See invisible, at least if the parts did something I'd feel like I wasn't wasting my time looking.

That's a fair complaint.

It's not that interesting things never generate, even in the early game - there have been Igor games where my problem was more that I was inundated with good parts in the early game, and so the late game was the meh part since it was hard to improve anywhere. But the opposite experience does seem more common, so the frequency at which interesting stuff generates could probably be upped.

Yeah, Honestly I like the idea of more parts having mixed bonuses early game (Like +2str-2con) it would lead to more interesting choices early game. like, is losing health worth the extra damage/attacks the strength provides right now. Or is see invisible worth a light weakness at this depth. This would also still leave you with room for improvements late game as you transition to more parts with exclusively beneficial modifiers.

Also while I have your attention I'm curious as to the reasoning the weapon smith can't add brands and resistances etc. to artifacts? It has an issue of really making the classes features do nothing past a certain stage of the game. the only thing they really get is the ability to tweak items Especially because it's fairly easy to hit their enchantment cap on all your gear, and then they're just kind of a sub par warrior when you hit the stage at which most of your stuff is artifacts.

do they get bonuses to artifact crafting and I just haven't gotten one to that stage yet or are they intended to be an early game powerhouse that falls off mid-late game as you upgrade?

Adding things to egos is already incredibly powerful, and makes weaponsmith one of the strongest classes in the game.

Not true; weaponsmiths just use ego items more than most other classes (and even normal classes tend to have at least a couple egos in their final kit!). Have a look at any endgame weaponsmith in the ladder and you'll find a kit full of egos.

They can eventually enchant artifacts up to (+20,+20) (or [+20] for armor); but the artifacts still struggle to outcompete enchanted ego items. Weaponsmiths are powerhouses throughout the game.
