Ring of Frost [12] or Ring of Strength +4

Hey folks. I'm playing a Dwarf Warrior.. and I'm trying to determine whether to equip Ring of Frost [12] or Ring of Strength +4.

My character hits 6 times per turn, and removing the ring of strength doesn't change that, but wearing the strength ring does increase my Fight and Melee stats.

So.. how much damage would the ring of frost do? It's worth a lot more in the stores than the strength ring.

Thanks so much!

David

Assuming you're playing on a recent version, the main thing the ring of frost does is brand your attacks with cold damage, which means that monsters that don't resist cold will take extra damage. What weapon are you using right now? The bigger the dice, the better the brand will be. Of course, as you get deeper into the dungeon, more monsters will resist cold.

Basically this is a damage tradeoff, between the occasional extra damage vs. non-cold-resistant monsters, and the guaranteed extra damage from the Ring of Strength. +4 Strength will also make it harder for you to get slowed by your burden, though, which is definitely something to keep in mind. Moving 10% faster than your enemy means you deal 10% more damage, remember.

More importantly, does the STR ring increase damage per hit?

And do you have Resist Cold from another source?

The frost ball activation is nice, but nothing I'd let deter me from replacing the Ring of Frost with something that actually provided resists, etc.

You say this like it's an either-or situation. Use the ring of frost against cold-vulnerable creatures, and to give yourself double cold resist against Scatha.
Use the ring of strength the rest of the time. Rings only way 0.1lb, so swaps are pretty much no brainers. Just be wary around electricity attacks, since they can destroy jewelry.
