New player: what to do next?

Hi all,

just wondering if I could get some advice on what to go after next in my current game. I havent played much of Sil yet, so I dont really know what would probably be best.
I was thinking about ditching my shield, taking sublety and using the short sword, another idea is to invest some more into smithing and make myself a fany new sword.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Dagmor is an excellent shortsword to go with assassination and finesse. Subtlety (maybe focus, cruel blow later) sounds like a reasonable plan to me. (Keep the shield in the inventory for emergencies, it is really good.) I also would spent most xp in stealth for a while and be very careful what I fight.

Yeah: since you've already invested a fair amount in stealth and have one of the better stabbing implements in the game, I'd say get subtlety and run with it. I'd also suggest, though, that you look into putting some XP into Will along with Stealth. At 600', you're getting very close to the part of the game where Will 6 leaves you super vulnerable.

Later on, consider Song of Battle. The latter is very powerful for crit builds in the endgame, when 10 or so Song is comparatively cheap and you can kill many enemies in a turn or two: the accuracy bonuses can easily get into the double digits.
