I've never understood what nexus is, apart from the fact that it has a violet tinge.

I've always "visualized" "force" as a shockwave, so fundamentally it's sound, but it's a very intense sound caused by something that moves supersonically. So force hounds are big, nasty dogs that "breathe" high explosives. Perhaps they spit nitroglycerin?

Some kind of fuel-air explosive would probably be better for producing shockwaves. Biologically, perhaps they can spit an aerosol of fats and then induce ignition.

The fact that vibration hounds attack by barking really loudly at you has always kind of amused me.

As for nexus, a nexus is "a connection or series of connections linking two or more things", so I always assumed nexus attacks forced you to move through some variant of hyperspace, or along ley lines, etc. Basically some layer adjacent to reality that connects points that are otherwise far apart. Why this sometimes scrambles your stats is unclear, but the damage is presumably caused by transporter worms.
