Differences between graphic sets
I always use the old tiles for no reason other than that's what I'm used to... Are there any differences between that and newer graphic sets? Like stuff that doesn't show correctly in one, or two items that look the same etc..

There's basically 1 David Gervais tile set that get used for all variants, with minor modifications here and there. Most maintainers, even if they support the DVG tileset within their variant don't put any effort into making sure that the tiles display correctly.
Luckily, you don't need to know a bit about C++ programming to rectify this problem. Simply edit the graf-dvg.prf located in the pref folder to match the corresponding entries in the appropriate monster and terrain files located in the edit folder, and assign each an appropriate graphic. ... or check the link in my sig and see if I've already done (part of) the work for you.

I have a related question: are canines (and cats, I think) supposed to look like stegosauruses in the DVG set?
