Angband marketing
Hi,
I was wondering if we could collect together a list of websites upon which to announce the next Angband release. Angband relies on its community, and we are one of the 'classic' games for Linux, and now have an actively maintained OS/X port. It'd be good for a change to go out and actively get some new blood on a couple of platforms that don't have the widest selection of games. My suggestions: Have a look at the sites referred to in the Linux gaming wikipedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_gaming Any good ideas for OS/X websites? I note that Apple themselves provide lists of games available on their platform. I suggest we hold off trying to contact them directly however. Other suggestions welcome. Andrew

Because of this,I have started advertising for the last couple of releases of FA. I don't know how many more players it got me (there were certainly lots of downloads quoted...), but I did get two offers of ports from this (one to OS X, one to Ubuntu) so I guess someone noticed it. I heard from rgrd that www.versiontracker.com is the number one Mac site, so used that - and it then appeared on any number of other Mac sites. I also listed on Happy Penguin, and on download.com.

You could advertise in sourceforge.net
In fact, nearly all the open source websites would welcome Angband. You just need an accurate and flattering description. |

I've now got ownership of the freshmeat.net Angband record, which is one of the big places where new Unix stuff is announced. Right now it seems to only list 3.0.3, but when 3.0.8 is out I'll be sure to update it accordingly.
