It was worth the trouble
9-7 feeling on DL9.
9 turned out to be 2(!) pits of minor demons which lead to 2 very tedious (and dangerous for low level HE mage) fights, but the reward was: Rod of Speed with only 200 turn recharge at normal speed! But that's not all: in the other pit, boots of Elvenkind, +7 to speed!! I already had been lucky enough to find good stockpile of potions of speed so now this mage can go +17 in practically all difficult situations. Time to deep descent. |

Just to double check - are you sure one or both of those were not dropped by a demon? I would think those items together, or even the boots by themselves, rate higher than 7 at DL 9.
Regardless - wreak some havoc!

Boots were on the floor and rod was a lucky drop from a quasit.
