Helemen - Elf Paladin

Had a bit of a scare fighting a Vampire Lord. @'d been firing arrows from a distance and the blood-sucker was frightened when he cast a spell and suddenly @ was PARALYZED!

"Oh, Holy #$%&!" I thought. "How did that happen? When did I drop FA coverage?"

Luckily, the effect wore off before the dracula returned and @ finished him off with a couple arrows. A quick return to town to grab the Boots of Radagast from home storage. Had to swap out boots of speed, but FA is more important right now.

Cl37Dl98. Helemen plunged deep with several ?Deep Descent. Showing up on Dl98, gets the level feeling 9-9. Omens of Death and Superb Treasures! Quaff !Enlightenment. OMG! The Plain Gold Ring is here (and a Ruby Ring too - aka Narya)! Have to try for it! Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead!

Donned The One Ring immediately, then continued clearing out the cells of the vault to acquire Narya and kill Vargo and Saruman as well as replaced The Glaive of Pain with a powerful Holy Avenger Mace of Disruption.

Returned to town and outfitted to attack Sauron. While seeking the Dark Lord, @ killed the Lernaean Hydra, Cantoras and the unpronouncable Q. Sauron was trapped in a vault, so @ was able to take out Itangast, Ren, Harowen, Ungoliant, and The Cat Lord, before trying to take on Sauron.

Then, things got complicated. The initial battle with Sauron was going well then he teleported away. @ killed The Witch King, then was teleported away by an Aether hound, smack into Glaurung. Managed to slip around a corner to better terrain before killing the Father of Dragons. Tracked Sauron down twice more on the level before finally killing him. Killed off Sauron's summons - Dwar, Hormurath, and Khamul. Then @ returned to the vault to kill off any remaining uniques that were there. The Balrog of Moria, Lungorthin, Pazuzu, and the Phoenix.

Need banishment supplies before taking on the Big P. Currently only have one each of banishment and mass banishment.

Took me another 20,000 turns to feel fully ready to take on Morgoth. The RNG has been incredibly generous (The One Ring), but it took it a long time to cough up ?Banishment and ?Mass Banishment. In the meantime, armed with The One, @ killed almost all the uniques. Kind of had to in order to gain some experience levels. He was only Cl 41 when he killed Sauron. Now, going hunting for Morgoth he is Cl 48. I want that Crown! The One has corrupted @ and his avarice to be the next Dark Lord knows no bounds!

Turned out @ didn't need so many ?Banishment and ?Mass Banishment after all. Morgoth was almost a push-over to the very powerful Helemen. Lot's of Holy Might shots from a Buckland Sling and bolts from a Haradrim Crossbow and a couple final swings from a high powered Mace of Disruption of Extra Attacks. He he he he... that Crown is mine!

As soon as I saw the post about 20,000 extra turns, I knew the RNG would punish you for your caution.

You're getting very good at the game it seems. Perhaps you should start doing Let's Plays for them?

The tech to even record a game and voice is a mystery to me. Plus, I could never match Fizzix's fantastic games and delivery. My turncounts are still way too high. If Fizzix won't do another series, I'd love Elliptic or PowerWyrm or one of the other truly *Great* players to make a "Let's Play". Learning from them and their amazing turncounts - that would be educational!

I think it's always interesting to see others play, regardless of whether it's optimal or not.

EDIT: I should say: Narration is key, though: I you don't explain semi-coherently what you're doing and why, then I am not going to try to puzzle through it.
