Linux compile question

Hello, all. I'm still kinda new at this.

I'm trying to compile Angband to have those separate terminal subwindows, like it looks in the win version of Angband. Also the ability to change fonts/tiles etc. Sdl2 does terminal windows, but they're all incorporated into the Angband main window.

What would I --enable in the ./configure step of the compile? Also what command to launch in that display?

--enable-x11 (and then run the game with src/angband -mx11 -- -n5) should do the trick. But are you sure you want it? In my experience it's much more cumbersome to move, resize and minimize all those separate windows. For me SDL2 with its single workspace was a big quality-of-life upgrade.

tyvm works perfectly! I almost had it heh.. the console output confused me. I was trying -mx11 ---n. The space makes all the difference.

Normally yes, I prefer sdl2, but I'm currently playing Faangband beta, and for whatever reason I can't see the area map that shows what's around me, and level of zone. It works with x11 though.

I suppose I could have just fired up the win version and used it for a map, but I had fun messin around with it.

Is there a mode for linux other than sdl2 where you can change font sizes, pick tiles etc, from within the game?

There's sdl, which uses SDL version 1.

Incidentally, I think the Windows version works with Wine (at least it did when I tried it many years ago).

Yeah the win compiles play, but I can't get sound to work on the win versions. I like the sounds.
I have no idea if it's wine or pulseaudio, but it doesn't show up as a sound application.
