Old player is back...
greetings folks! i am a (supposed) old angband player... after several years i decided to play it again and i am here for a small trouble...
i used to play angband in 2000 with the version 283: now i have some saves of my high-elf mage and they dont work with the latest version... is there any way to retrieve them? or, as an alternative, where can i get the version 283? thanks a lot and cheers |

Savefile compatibility was recently broken in version 3.1.0 - I think you're out of luck there.
You can get 2.8.3 (and I believe any version at all) here. Welcome back to the dark side.

 Rephial is quite slow but works for me. Btw, a lot of versions can also be found there, including 2.8.3 : ftp://ftp.sunet.se/pub/games/Angband/

Your save file will work in versions up to 3.0.8. 3.0.9 cleaned up the .txt files, with the unavoidable side effect that old save files are broken.
