New PWMAngband 1.1.12 beta 5 released!
Bugfix version + nerfing of Unbelievers. List of changes: - Base targeting lines off player belief rather than truth - Change waybread to a flat 20 heal - Force at least two rooms in modified levels - Randarts: hit/dam on gloves, reduce amount of cursing - Move angband.css to the manual generation directory, generate PDF and HTML manuals in the root directory - Improvements to pathfinding - Use singular when displaying the activation message for a stack of rods - Make DAMAGE effect identify - Change Identify to Identify Rune - Cap anti-magic and anti-summoning at 90% - Minor changes to randarts (AC, to-hit and to-dam) - Add antimagic field value to the description when inspecting dark swords - Make a list of grids to pick a teleport location from - Don't count timed effects as damage in nonhp_dam() - Fix quiver header - Remove (unused) monster spell power - Update view after changing gear and allow trap discovery if searching has improved - Give all traps a 1 in 3 chance of being destroyed when the player hits them - Fix "It (offscreen) disappears" message when teleporting a monster away - Don't make teleport other sound twice when teleporting a monster away - Forbid enchantments (to-hit, to-dam, to-ac) on dark swords - Remove old code displaying garbled entries at the beginning of the character history Files updated: client, server and source code. New PWMAngband 1.1.12 beta 8 released!
Bugfix version (mostly). Adds the last changes from Vanilla before the release of 4.1.1. Changes antimagic to a modifier and feather falling to levitation. Full list of changes: - Add struct connector for joining levels (adapted for PWMAngband) - Enforce minimum level sizes for persistent levels (adapted for PWMAngband) - Stop passable rubble protecting monsters from projections - Label fully-known cursed items in stores - Stop monster status info when blind - Clarify curse removal menu - Stop rubble being created on top of monsters/players - Update view correctly after darkening a room - Tweak modified profile unusual room parameter - Always give the player some experience for disarming a trap - Add number of unknown runes to rune knowledge menu - Add list of visited dungeon/town locations to the knowledge screen - Fix experience earned by killing Atlas, the Titan - Allow cursed objects with positive value to be sold in shops - Remove HOLD_LIFE from Morgul weapons and from Mormegil - Remove slay undead from Morgul weapons - Fix remove curse spell - Change Feather Falling to Levitation (makes falls painless + prevents drowning) - Add LEVITATE flag to allow (mainly flying) monsters to cross water - Make antimagic a modifier instead of a flag, cap its value at +4 (40% field) - Fix randart dark swords having nonzero initial to-hit and to-dam values - Prevent adding supercharged AC to randart dark swords - Give all randart weapons a chance to get an antimagic field - Remove possible enchantments on ego dark swords - Reduce chance of supercharged AC on weapons - Add mana resistance to randart Crystal DSMs - Allow rerolling random artifacts (Dungeon Master menu) - Fix crash when monster tries to create traps in MvM mode - Ensure that Raise Dead generates an undead monster consistent with the corpse used - NOTEYE upgraded to version 8.4 Files updated: client, server and source code. How exactly do you run the game? I fetched Beta version (PWMAngband 1.1.12 beta 8), unzipped it, ran the server (mangband) and then any of the 3 clients but none works.

Some game balance following my test run described with details in the AAR section + some changes from V. And as always some bugfixes. List of changes: - Add option to display effective speed - Change to main-gcu.c - Place stairs in safer places, forbid stairs in vaults, starburst rooms and rooms of chambers - Randomise teleport distances a bit - Prevent conflict between object flags and curses - Fix ART_TAG stuff for plurals - Give a chance to get dracoliches when using Raise Dead on dragon corpses - Make controlled monsters more likely to react to new orders - Fix typo in description of potions of life - Fix description of objects with random effects - Fix placement of rubble and traps in turn-based mode - Fix oversized labyrinths generated above or below a static level - Make Mirrored script "B"s vault centered - Make ancient wyrms rarer - Add ABOMINATION flag (currently used for death oozes and chaos masses) - Add S_ABOMINATION spell (Xakaze) - Add S_SPIRIT spell (Melkor) - Don't allow antimagic field from monsters to disrupt other monsters' spells Files updated: client, server and source code. I've found a fix for the endless wait while querying a non-responding metaserver. Now the code calls SocketReadable() ten times, once per second, and defaults to selecting a server manually if the ten second timeout expires. Tested vs MAngband's metaserver (the timeout triggers) and TomeNET's metaserver (data is properly read from the meta).
