Ironband, out of light

So, I ran out of light in Ironband. On dungeon level 7, level 13. Apart from using my scrolls/spells of light, is there any real potential for continuing this game? I managed to find 2 lanterns and no oil, clearing more or less all the prior levels (just went down staircase). Is this normal, should I be taking off the lantern/torch to rest, or was I just unlucky?

Haven't played a ton of Ironband (or ironman), but I can also recall running out of light in Ironband. It sounds like you were probably diving too slowly and were also a little unlucky. If you're low on light, you should definitely be taking it off whenever it's not necessary.

I had a plan, I'd use my ring of teleportation to get around (quickly) and then light rooms using spells, while I searched for light sources, stairs, or any enemy that has a drop. My plan, quickly fell apart when, alone in the dark, I realized that I needed a light source to cast a spell. I ditched all my torches once I had my lamp fully fueled. 6000+ turns without a find, I'm dead. Well, at least I learned the importance of saving those last 100 turns of light.

Perhaps this character can survive. Next time, try to conserve your torches more carefully - you probably should not clear entire levels until you feel more comfortable about food/light.
