Idea: ASCII-map when using tiles

I'm using tiles and at least on my setup those don't work that well when looking at the map with shift-m. I would prefer to map to be as clear and informative as possible, so an ASCII-map would work best for me. Idea to consider? Toggleable option maybe?

I'm certainly fine with that idea, and I'll add another one. How do people feel about the maps in subwindows - would those be better as ASCII?

What about an option to use tiles for terrain and ASCII for monsters? I will implement this for my variant because I like to know immediately which threat my chars are facing and it's easier to remember a symbol than a tile.

I play with two windows setup, so using shift+M map in main window.. and it will be indeed great to have there ASCII map as tiles map harder to 'read'
