Which would you say is the *hardest* class to play ?

Ignoring races (no "kobold warrior") but instead assuming you want the best race / stat build for each class, which would you say is the most difficult class to play ?
This question bundles together both early game difficulty and endgame / morgoth.
I accept that this is a very broad question, just give me your best shot.
The reason why i am putting up this poll is because everyone's got an opinion as to which is the easiest class (mostly due to player experience), but nobody's said anything about the opposite.

Keep in mind, no need to have difficult races, or turncount worries .. plain and simple, in YOUR idea, which class is the most difficult.

.. of the "traditional" Angband. It's been twenty years with 6 classes, i think we can wait a little longer before we start adding druids and blackguards.

Right. But in 3.0 the answer is probably different from 4.1
And I am not really sure there is one real answer even then. Maybe priest? It is such a drag to get started.

What, priest is the easiest. A sling of power gets you to orb and then some.

The answer to the question is its a matter of preference. There are people who won with warriors but have difficulties with mages and vice versa.

For me, its probably ranger. Arrow management quickly depletes my reserves for precise play so when the situation calls for more I am not inclined to maintain focus and might play sloppily.

Voted, but my real answer is Necromancer and/or Blackguard as those are the only two I haven't won with. Been trying for the last week or so with Necromancer, might have to give it a rest and come back - frustrating - early and even mid game has limited offensive options with low SP - even with a long bow of power there are times where I miss 5 times in a row :/

For me it is the ranger. On paper it is very powefull but I keep dying no matter what. My most over the top damage dealers have been rangers but still somehow I manage to do something really stoopid like for example dying.

In earlier versions, ranger is the easiest. You start with a longbow, and enchant to_dam scrolls are readily available in the alchemist. At CL 26, your starting bow is x x3 (+4,+7) with two shots, assuming you haven't found better

Blackguard is one of the easiest. If you can grind through the early/mid game then in the late game you are so powerful. Apart from a mage, I'd say blackguard is one of the strongest classes in 4.2.1 (not tried 4.2.2 and I understand there have been some alterations and I'm not sure if they're for better or worse). I recently posted a screen shot of the damage output my bloodlusted clvl 50 blackguard could deal in a single round and it was 4,244 - I think it might be a vanilla record
