can't load save file. anti-save scumming feature?

Hello everyone,

I've a half-elf mage named Prestolist, but his save file won't load. Instead it sits there in a forlorn, grayer font than usual.

My Macbook's hard drive recently quit on me (absolutely not my fault and not the result of violence), and in the course of restoring the system, I copied up-to-date backups of my Angband files over to the new drive. It's occurred to me that reloading a file from a backup probably looks very like reloading a file from a dead character.

Can anyone tell me how to make the file load? He's not dead (yet), and he just found a staff of *Destruction*, somewhere before level 5, even, so you know the RNG likes him.

It may be that the file has somehow become the wrong type - the OSX port requires a specific file type. I use a utility called Quick Change; the file needs to be Type SAVE and Creator A271.

Or it may be another problem...

You can open untyped files with "Import" rather than "Open"

Thanks both of you. It looks like the type information did get lost when I moved it to the other system.
