BTW all multiplying monsters have a max count they can multiply, they will never be more.

As for vaults, I have not decided if there will be or how

Beta 2, precompiled Windows binaries, running on XP. Beta 1 worked fine. [ETA: In addition to the message quoted above, stdout says "WARNING: No bootstrap code found, defaulting to working directory for engine code!

Hmm, I suppose I could get around the temptation to resize by playing in fullscreen mode... but I'm using a 16x9 monitor and none of the available resolutions are 16x9, so everything is stretched and/or cut off...

edit: also, maybe I'm just spoiled by Angband, but there doesn't seem to be any "panic save" feature - when I set the resolution to 1600x1200 just to see what would happen, no savefile was generated

edit 2: downloaded the source to poke around... and YOWZA! Premake is AWESOME! It generated a VS2008 project for me!!!

The savefile system is quite different, when it panics it could already be too late

Played a bit more. Crashes are omnipresent.

SPOILERS

Got to the orc ambush. I'm sorry to say this, but the whole concept is absurdal. It's just senseless to create a fight encounter the character can't win. And if he does, he can't get out of it, because the game didn't take that possibility into account. So you are dead or stuck no matter what. If a character really must lose this "staff", make it automatic and move on.
