Phase door inside a greater vault

I thought this was not supposed to happen but it occurred twice while fighting Morgoth in 4.1.2. stable release in angband.live.

Fought M outside one greater vault. Morgy had blasted a little area inside the permanent wall into a destruction area while hitting me. As I phased after that, I blinked inside the vault inside that new rubble area (was completely unexplored by me before that).

Bug? As far as I know phasing rules, it is.

I've noticed this too and while I haven't yet tried to exploit it you could use ?*destruction* so that it damages just the outer edge of the vault and then try to phase into it.

While there is most certainly a way to abuse this bug, I just found it annoying. As I phased out of the vault I gave Morgy free attacks.

After it happened the second time, I just tele'd out, destructed a new area and killed Morgy there.

A destructed area loses all flags (vault, room, door, trap)

Why does this matter? How does it affect the player when an area doesn't have those four flags?

Squares with the vault flag can't be teleported to, which is why normally using phase door inside a vault lands you outside.
