proposal - model town (and more)

i've been quiet the last few months because i've been working a lot and just enjoying playing both vanilla and the new classes.

As always, i prefer randarts, for the thrill of finding something new. Now, haviing a completely new and untested set of random artifacts does not annoy me at all. What *does* annoy me however is the layout of the town.

So, i'm hereby proposing that one of the birth options should be "use model town" where

1. there is no lava
2. the stores are arranged with the doors facing inwards to the middle
3. there is no rubble

and ideally we could dispense with the stupid mobs, but i'm willing to let that slide as a minor annoyance, plus i do want to kill farmer maggot.

Just, really, for someone who is constantly recalling, which the majority of you no longer do, having a different layout every time, sometimes with one shop in a far corner with the door to the wall, facing some lava, is REALLY annoying, and does nothing to improve the gameplay.

I'd be totally ok if the model town layout is the same every game.

(also still waiting on "s" to be the default rest key)

I believe the joke back in the day was to create this "optimized" town layout:
Code:
######
#....# <-- cubbyhole where townspeople can spawn
####;# for farming gold as needed.
#123.#
#4>..#
#5678#
######

I know what is missing from the town: cops and a jail.

This is my other roguelike, where there are cops in towns. Don't try to kill them... seriously, you'd not like what would happen
