Poor mages have it hard already, carrying three copies of six different books, 3lbs each, just to avoid being left stranded in dungeon after vital spellbook gets burned up. With their inherently low STR, no need to worsen them further.

Only if they stack - ie you can achieve full elemental impunity on an ordinary item.

Not that they're in V (yet), but they might make an appearance aet some point.
Woohoo! I've been planning those for FA, and never got around to it... Can I suggest coldproofing as well (I want to coldproof my potions of life (or Potions of Life...)), and you can anything-proof anything relevant, and that they don't stack with unproofed things?

Also electroproof for swap rings.

I'd definately say NO to backpacks of extra storage...that's going the way of bags of holding in Nethack and the insane amount of stuff you can carry around. Part of the important strategy in Angband is deciding what to keep and what you can live without. This was the thing that initially attracted me to 'band over nethack; the limited storage (that and the more plentiful food sources).

I'm suggesting making rings immune to damage in Angband... so they're worthwhile swaps.
