One reason is that ladder links aren't permanent; they change when an updated character is uploaded, thus making archived forum conversations not make sense.

But I'm with you to a small extent, and I usually post ladder links when I have questions like this...

I didn't think of that. Then, couldn't you just attach it to the post as a text file?
