After much plugging away and genociding every level, beat Morgoth and kept clearing until reached 99,999,999 XP.
Would love to post my character to the Angband Ladder but can't seem to even download the file dump. I pressed "C" and the "f" to create the file dump. It provides the file name, says it saves it successfully... but where does it go? Searching my entire computer files and it's nowhere, not even in downloads. Any advice? Thanks! (sorry, answering my own question but for some reason it saves it in an AppData folder, had to search through my whole PC to find it. Now it apparently also saves it in lib/users folder but you can't access the dump file via the normal Angband folder to Windows Explorer). Bizarre - is there a workaround for this? Thanks. Not sure about your pc but mine have always created a text file in lib/user with the name of charactername.txt (you can change that when you save)
as opposed to the save file for the character which is in lib/user/save and just has the filename of character (no extension) Unless you create a character based off a previous character when you die - then it continues to use the previous character filename. But I'm not certain about your version... |

Don't use Windows?
![]() Windows restricts write access to some folders and their subfolders; in particular /Windows , /Programs , and /Program Files (maybe others) If a program tries to write in such a folder, Windows silently redirects the output to the VrtualStore subfolder of the Appdata directiory. If you install Angband in an unprotected folder, save files and character dumps are witten to the /lib subfolder of the installation. |

It's funny - I can only see the files when I open from within the game. They don't show up though in the physical windows explorer file. I bet you're exactly right about the write access restriction - I undid that in properties so will see if that works.
Although gonna take a break from it for a little while. Twas a long slog through the dungeon. Thanks. Appreciate the advice. |
